Police say a teen is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the stomach on St. Ouen Street Tuesday morning.
The shooter is said to be a man in his 20’s who ran away from the scene wearing a black hoodie.
“This neighborhood is pretty quiet. So that was kind of a little bit, you know, alarming that somebody was shot over here, like recently,” said Jayda Grace, a Wakefield resident.
This is the second shooting in the area in the last month.
Rahim Ebnou, the owner of City Line Fruit & Vegetable, tells News 12, even with the spike in violence, he does not feel threatened.
“The people I am surrounded with inside of the store. This is only the good people,” said Ebnou.
He says it is usually a safe neighborhood, but he is prepared for anything.
“All the security cameras work. We have other alerts for 911. If anything happens, we will call (police),” said Ebnou.
News 12 spoke with David Caba, a Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (B.R.A.G) representative.
“We want to make sure no one else gets hurt. The last thing we want is an incident where unfortunately, you know, a minor or a senior gets hurt, someone that's completely uninvolved, what was going on,” said David Caba, a B.R.A.G. representative.
