The NYPD says a shots fired incident led to a police chase in Brownsville.
Police say they initially heard shots fired just before 4:30 on Pitkin Avenue and Junius Street.
They say they then chased a man with a gun to Belmont Avenue.
Police say one person of interest in custody and are searching for another suspect, who they say is male and was wearing all black.
News 12 spoke with people new to the area, like Sheba Jones, who were surprised to hear about the incident.
"This opened up my mind, you gotta be careful, you never know," said Jones.
Other long-time residents like Tony Camacho says it doesn't come as a surprise.
“It’s kind of normalized. I know it’s not, but you become desensitized to it," said Camacho.
