An off-duty Stone Harbor police officer was hurt in an unprovoked attack Wednesday on the Wildwood boardwalk, according to authorities.
Five men ranging from 19 to 21 years old were arrested in connection with the incident. Two of them are facing aggravated assault charges.
The Cape May County Prosecutors office says the officer sustained a concussion and facial fractures.
In a post on X, the New Jersey PBA called the incident “outrageous” and praised law enforcement for their work capturing the suspects.
The assault comes just a week after a 14-year-old was charged in the murder of Newark police detective Joseph Azcona.
