Milford police have announced the death of K-9 Tyson.
Police say Tyson, along with his handler Officer Hilliard, was a distinguished graduate of the 208th Patrol Handler Class and the Connecticut State Police 237th K-9 Narcotics Detection Troop.
Tyson served for over five years with Milford and other local and state police and federal agencies.
He was known for his keen nose, which led to the seizure of narcotics and multiple firearms.
Officers say Tyson and Hilliard received several department accolades, including one of the department's highest medals for bravery after tracking and saving a suicidal individual from drowning.
