Law enforcement and first responders responded to a police-involved shooting in Flatbush on Tuesday.
The NYPD held a press conference on Tuesday night. Law enforcement officials say that officers ran toward gunfire at around 7:30 p.m. and discovered two men involved in a shootout. The officers drew weapons and fired shots at one of the two individuals closest to them and that man was struck at least once.
A 9 mm handgun and numerous shell casings were recovered at the scene.
The man who was shot was taken to Kings County and is now in stable condition.
Police say the man they opened fire on is 22-year-old Edynesson Bauday.
Bauday is a two-time convicted felon who was on parole until 2030.
Bauday was arrested in 2021 at 18 years old. He was released from custody before being arrested again for violent commercial robbery, in which he was sentenced for that crime. He was released on June 10.
