Police are trying to track down a group of men wanted in a string of bodega robberies across East New York.
Investigators say three different robberies happened in just four days—and they believe the same crew may be behind all of them.
The first incident happened on May 31 around 9:30 a.m. at New Lots Deli on New Lots Avenue. According to police, three men walked into the store, threatened a 23-year-old worker and two of them brandished guns. They took off with cash and merchandise, including cigars. One suspect fled on a scooter, the others ran off on foot.
“My friend, he was in here. He stacked the money. He put it inside the bag and some cigars and give it to him and they go,” said Saleh M., a worker at the deli.
Just two days later—on June 2 and again on June 3—the same kind of robbery happened at a different deli just a few blocks away on New Jersey Avenue.
In both of those cases, police say the suspects threatened a 19-year-old employee and showed a gun before stealing cash. One suspect left on a scooter, the others ran.
A worker at that second location told News 12 he’s still shaken up.
“It happened two times, two days,” said Ali. “…It’s scary.”
The NYPD released video from the May 31 incident, showing three suspects—one wearing a gray Nike hoodie, the others in black jackets. Anyone who recognizes them is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
No injuries were reported in any of the cases.
