Darien Police say a possible threat to Darien High School and the community was unfounded following a concerning social media post.

The FBI alerted the department to the post, which was made by a high school student.

The post involved a potential threat to public safety, police say.

As a result, police provided extensive resources to the school, which was put in a shelter in place Friday.

The student who made the post was identified and questioned, authorities say.

Police determined there was no threat to the school or town.

The shelter in place was later lifted.
