A teenager was stabbed and killed in Williamsbridge on Tuesday, according to police.
The NYPD says that the victim, 16-year-old Aliyah Williams, was stabbed multiple times in the head and body, just before 4 p.m. near a deli on the corner of Boston Road and Mickle Avenue.
“She had multiple stab wounds to her body - neck, face and chest,” said Rose Anderson, the victim’s grandmother. “I think they said she had one [stab wound] in her heart.”
Anderson says her granddaughter texted her that morning and asked for money to buy food, and hours later, she was dead.
“I never expected this to happen to [Williams] because she’s not a bad kid,” Anderson said. “She’s a people person.”
Law enforcement officials say the victim and suspect got into a dispute, and the victim threw water at the suspect.
Officials say the suspect responded by stabbing the victim multiple times.
One witness asked not to be identified and told News 12 he was traumatized.
“[The victim] was just laid out on the floor bleeding out,” the witness said. “I called the ambulance; and I kept saying to the ambulance, ‘You got to hurry up.’ They kept telling me to do this and do that, and [Williams] didn’t make it.”
Police say the teen was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where she was pronounced dead.
“Somebody did something to that little girl like that,” the witness said. “I mean, they cut her up. That’s weird, man. I’ve never seen that before.”
Law enforcement officials say they are searching for a female with a dark complexion, wearing all black, with a red and pink durag.
“Who would do that to a little girl like that?” the witness said.
