A tragic incident unfolded Thursday outside Mickey's Pizzeria on 136 Lake Ave. in Yonkers where two teenagers were fatally stabbed.
Police say two 16-year-old boys were stabbed. One victim was from Yonkers and other from Queens.
Yonkers police say a 17-year-old from Yonkers has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the stabbings. They aren’t releasing his name.
The preliminary investigation shows that one of the victims was engaged in a verbal dispute with the suspect. The suspect then produced a knife and stabbed the first victim one time in the chest. The suspect then started to flee, where he was met by the second victim at the entrance to the location. Police say the suspect stabbed the second victim in the abdomen and upper chest before fleeing.
Parents and friends set up candles and flowers outside Mickey's Pizzeria for a memorial.
People in the area told News 12 that the area needs more police presence, especially at night.
“There’s been multiple deaths on this street, on this block, that should have been taken care of,” says Marie.
“This particular area used to be so much safer,” says Audrey Jones, a Yonkers resident.
