A situation that prompted Parsippany police to advise residents near Route 202 to remain in their homes early this morning has been resolved.
The Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department sent out an alert just after 6:30 a.m. alerting residents to "law enforcement activity" in the area of Kingston Road, Route 202 and Alloway Road. In the alert, police asked people in the neighborhood to remain inside unless contacted by law enforcement.
According to a second notice around 7:15 a.m., Parsippany police said the situation involved federal agents. They did not, however, specify which agencies were involved or the nature of the operation.
"Federal law enforcement carried out a planned law enforcement operation this morning. The situation has been resolved, and there is no danger to the public," the second notice says.
Police said that while federal investigators continue their investigation, multiple roadways will remain closed including Route 202 north. Law enforcement officers may also be present on Kingston and Alloway roads as well as in the area of Route 202 between Richards Street and Marcella Road.
