A 41-year-old building superintendent has died after police say he was found with serious injuries inside a Flatbush apartment building on Wednesday morning. According to the NYPD, officers were called around 8 a.m. to 1199 Ocean Ave. for a report of an assault. When they went inside, they found the man with head injuries.
A police source says the dispute started inside the building, several neighbors called 911 saying a man was being threatening. Moments later, a fight broke out outside — reportedly over stolen packages. At one point, four men were holding the man down until police arrived. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. A police source tells News 12 the man was the super of the building. A person of interest is currently in custody, but no arrests or charges have been announced.
Crime scene units were at the building throughout Wednesday as detectives collected evidence. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, which remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
