Rep. Pat Ryan (D-18) delivered his State of the Hudson Valley address on Sunday.
Ryan spoke about the challenges facing local families. He cited economic pressures and health care costs.
He also spoke about his continuing battle with the Trump administration over plans to place a detention center in Chester. He noted last week’s disclosure that ICE had opened offices in New Windsor.
Ryan said he promised to fight every day to make the Hudson Valley more affordable, safe and free. He said he would have gone to the White House if the president had worked in good faith toward those goals. He said he would fight relentlessly against anyone trying to hurt the community.
Ryan says his online petition against ICE activity has gathered more than 20,000 signatures.
