The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Fairfield County for Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Expect one to two feet of inundation along the waterfront and shoreline.
NOW: News12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Michele Powers says temperatures won't be quite as warm on Friday, but still above normal with highs making it into the middle and upper 70s. This is the very last week of summer, and the autumnal equinox is only three days away.
WHAT’S NEXT: Friday will feature the onshore winds again and a partly sunny sky. There is a very slight risk of a shower, but most areas will stay completely dry. The storm offshore slowly drifts out of the area through the weekend and the weather will turn cooler. Sunday will be chilly with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Temperatures will really cool off on Monday, too, the first full day of the fall season. Fall is off to a dry start, but showers may pop up later in the week.
FLOODING: Coastal flooding during high tide will be an issue through the weekend. There is a coastal flood advisory for several high tide cycles now through Sunday. Inundation of water up to 1 foot. Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.
TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Mild. Low of 65.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny, trending drier. Breezy, high of 76.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. High of 73.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. High of 68.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. High of 67.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny, risk of showers. High of 68.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy, spot showers. High of 68.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy, risk of showers. High of 68.
