The National Weather Service has continued a rip current statement, although New York City beaches are closed to swimming.

As expected, the rain and storms remain offshore and will stay far enough away through the rest of the workweek. That will cause the dry streak to grow.

It has been rain-free since last Saturday, 13 days ago. This streak is expected to continue into the start of next week, which could grow to 18 or more days, putting it in some rare territory. There have only been a handful of completely rain-free stretches that exceeded 18 days in New York City.

Despite the lack of rain, it will still be breezy at times all the way through Sunday. Wind gusts will be between 15 and 20 mph, up to 30 mph at the coast. It will also usher in cooler weather, back down to the upper-70s for Friday, and low-70s by Sunday.

It will feel fall-like for the first day of fall on Sunday. Highs will be stuck in the 60s on Monday and Tuesday. Next chance of rain, as of now, is next Wednesday but it could also remain rain-free beyond that.
