NYPD detectives are looking for two men who they say got away with over $75,000 worth of construction tools during a burglary spree across New York City.
Police say the duo wore Amazon vests and struck eight commercial vehicles between Aug. 4 and Sept. 14. Four happened in the Bronx and one in Brooklyn.
The other three thefts occurred in Queens.
Investigators say the burglaries followed a similar pattern: the men break into a vehicle, steal construction tools, and flee in a black Honda Accord.
According to the NYPD, the duo carried out their most expensive heist on Sept. 1 at around 10:30 a.m. in the Bronx. Police say the men stole an estimated $28,300 in tools from a Noble Plumbing and Heating Inc. vehicle in front of Bronx Regional High School, at 1010 Rev. James A. Polite Ave.
Detectives say the thieves got away with the second-largest haul in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, on Aug. 8. The men broke into a commercial vehicle just after 8 a.m. in front of 2733 East 12th Street and drove away with about $16,200 worth of tools in tow.
Police say the men targeted an New York City Department of Education vehicle in Queens four days later and stole approximately $7,200 in construction tools.
During the first burglary on Aug. 4, the men did not steal tools. Instead, police say they removed a dash camera and exterior sensors from a commercial vehicle in Queens. This theft brings the estimated total value in stolen goods to nearly $80,000.
The burglary victims included seven men and one woman. Detectives say no one was hurt during the incidents.
The NYPD released images of the men and their alleged getaway car on Sunday.
Police urge anyone with information to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
