Some Rockland County athletes headed to the Summer Olympics. Good luck to him. Nyack resident Charlotte Buck will compete on the US rowing team for the second time and Rockland native Eric favors will be Ireland's first shot putter in 30 years. And if you want to catch the start of the games, the copper steel restaurant in Pomona is hosting a watch party tomorrow at 130.

From Rockland County to the Olympics News. Twelve's Diane Caruso speaks to the proud family of one athlete hoping the luck of the Irish will bring him gold in this youtube video, Eric favors picked up a shot put years ago as a teen. Now, the 27 year old North Rockland native is heading to throw it in Paris. As an Olympian, it's always been his dream. And uh the first day I cried was probably the other day. I'm just very proud of him. He worked very hard for this. Teresa Hyman is so happy for her son, Eric. He's just such a hard worker. He's, he was a premature baby. He was only five pounds. They didn't think he would survive and just to see him now, it's a miracle. Eric will be representing Ireland in the Olympics since he has dual citizenship. The last time that country was represented in the sport at the Olympic level was 30 years ago before he was born. I spoke with mom outside of the copper, still in Pomona where the family will have a watch party Friday afternoon for the opening ceremony. I'm extremely proud. I couldn't be more proud Darius is Eric's older brother. See it come to fruition is really, it's amazing. Everyone in our family is really happy for him from watch party to watching in person. Eric's family will be heading to Paris to cheer him on. Just can't wait just to spend that time with my family and enjoy every minute of it. I've always watched it. I've always admired it. Um, but now that I know like I'm gonna be there watching my own brother, I'm gonna be screaming extra hard, extra loud in Pomona Diane Crusoe who was 12 and when he's not training, Eric works as a bouncer and an it for a school district.
