Firefighters in Newtown were able to remove and salvage many personal items for the owners of a home where flames broke out Friday evening.
The fire happened around 9:30 p.m. on Brushy Hill Road.
All five of the town's fire departments responded along the mutual aid from Monroe and Bethel.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the second floor and through the roof.
A tanker had to be used to shuttle in water.
Officials say the second floor sustained significant fire damage while the first floor mostly had smoke and fire damage.
        No firefighters were injured.
