A fire destroyed a detached garage at a home on Glenfield Avenue in Stratford Wednesday.
Fire officials say it happened around 10:30 a.m.
Over 20 firefighters responded.
Once they arrived, some firefighters worked to contain the fire, while others deployed hose lines to protect nearby homes and limit their damage, according to authorities.
The garage is considered a total loss, and town building officials were called in to address structural integrity issues.
During the fire, Milford and Bridgeport firefighters provided mutual aid coverage.
Officials want to remind residents to have working smoke detectors, regularly practice an escape plan and immediately call 911 as soon as they see smoke or fire.
