Officials: Car crash spurs road closures in Trumbull

Firefighters arriving on scene found a damaged car and a significantly damaged utility pole. They also found wires that were on the ground and on fire.

Several roads were closed in Trumbull Friday after a car crashed into a utility pole on Main Street near Middlebrooks Avenue, fire officials say.
Firefighters arriving on scene found a damaged car and a significantly damaged utility pole. They also found wires that were on the ground and on fire.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire while United Illuminated had to turn off the power.
Officials say Main Street at Middlebrooks Avenue will be closed until further notice. Middlebrooks Avenue is also closed at Church Hill Road.
Police say there is a traffic detour that will be place until 11 p.m.
Drivers going south on Main Street can turn onto Park Lane to Fernwood Road to Cottage Street.
Drivers going north on Main Street will have to turn onto Cottage Street, then Fernwood Road and finally Park Lane.
Police are reminding drivers that the detour is located in a residential neighborhood and are urging drivers to be cognizant of their surroundings.
It's not clear if anyone was injured.
