        Officials: Brick Township man accused of starting Jackson wildfire

        Authorities say Richard Shashaty was firing ammunition at a shooting range on Stump Tavern Road.

        A Brick Township man accused of starting the wildfire in Jackson has been charged with arson, according to officials.
        Authorities say Richard Shashaty was firing ammunition at a shooting range on Stump Tavern Road.
        The fire that began on Nov. 6 burned 350 acres and is expected to leave smoke in the area for several days.
        As of Sunday morning, officials say it is 90% contained. Stump Tavern Road has also been reopened.
        Shashaty remains in the Ocean County Jail awaiting his first court hearing.
