As many as 200 people were displaced following a building fire in Baldwin, according to Nassau police.
Fire officials say everyone inside got out of the building safely, but police say the apartment building in Baldwin is condemned.
Cellphone video obtained by News 12 shows fire inside on the third floor and smoke billowing out of the top of the apartment building on Merrick Road.
Officials say it started around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
News 12 is told an electrical issue in a vacant area of the third floor is to blame.
A family that lives on the third floor says their home is destroyed.
“Our alarm started going off. So, I come back out, I'm like, 'I don’t think everything is OK'. Woke up the kids and we just got out of there," said Darwin Garcia.
The people who live in the building got out safely, but three firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
