Nineteen people were displaced following a garage fire in Stamford, fire officials say.
It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Monday in the rear of a home located at 60 Myrtle Ave.
Officials say firefighters arrived to find the garage, which was storing landscape equipment, fully engulfed in fire. They add that the exterior of the "exposed residence" was beginning to burn as well.
Firefighters quickly put out the fire and the exposure was wetted down to prevent extension.
A total of 19 people have been temporarily displaced and were relocated with assistance from the American Red Cross.
A multifamily home at 14 Gregory St. also suffered exterior damage from the fire.
It's not clear what caused the fire.
