There is a search underway for a person in the waters off Kings Park Bluff, fire officials say.
Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau say they got a 911 call about a man in distress in the Nissequogue River in Kings Park just before 8 p.m.
The Kings Park fire chief says bystanders saw a man go into the water off and try to swim. They say that person was not seen again.
Dive teams went into the water, but the fire chief says they were unable to find the person.
The Suffolk County Marine Bureau is continuing to search overnight.
