An off-duty Shelton police officer saved a person Monday from a burning car after it rolled over, fire officials say.
The rollover accident happened just before 11 a.m. on Long Hill Avenue near Laurel Wood Drive.
Firefighters arriving at the scene found the car on its side and on fire. Crews then learned that Officer Roger Falcone removed the person from the vehicle.
Officials say if it was not for Falcone's actions, the outcome could have been different as the fire had started to spread to the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
The person's condition is not known.
