And now we've got an update on some breaking news that we're following for you this morning. A section of the Taconic State Parkway is back open this morning as state police investigate a crash here. It happened at 11:30 last night right near Exit 3 in Hawthorne. We are hearing reports that one person. A person is dead and we do know at least 2 cars are involved in this incident. All 3 northbound lanes were closed until just about an hour ago. It is now though again back open. We will continue to follow this story and give you updates as soon as they come in.

A grieving family in Peekskill wants answers after their dad was killed in a wrong way crash. It happened on the Taconic, and the other driver was an off-duty NYPD sergeant. Melanie Palmer has the story tonight. It's tough when it's quiet. That's when it dawns on me that, you know, he's gone. Marvin Boytel says it really hits his brother Eric. We still wake up hoping that it was all just a dream, a really bad dream. Instead it's a living nightmare. These two lost their father, 61-year-old Manuel Boyel, in January. We were just in complete shock. He was driving home to Peekskill from. Longtime job as a doorman on the Upper East Side that night he was running late, so his sons checked his location on their phone. It shows that our dad hasn't moved from that specific location for over an hour. It dawned on us that something happened. He was on the Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant when state police say off duty NYPD Sergeant Tiffany Howell was driving south in the northbound lanes and crashed into him. Head on, I knew when we saw the accident it was bad. Boyel says his father wanted to be a police officer himself and even gave to organizations supporting them. The Boyel family says they want answers and justice. What was going on? What happened? I want to take the opportunity to call on the Attorney General on behalf of the family for a full and transparent investigation into exactly how something like this could have happened. The attorney general's office says their investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, Sergeant Howell is suspended without pay. As for the boy tells, they're holding on to the memories of their father. They say he was a great dad, a good and compassionate person who loved their mom dearly. He will drop everything if it involves me, my brother, or my mother. He'll always be loved, and he will always be right here in Westchester County, Melanie Palmer, News 12. And we have reached out to Sergeant Howell's attorney, but we have not heard back.
