Detectives say 22-year-old Mohamed Sakho was arrested for an unrelated robbery opposite 250 Baychester Ave. at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday.
According to investigators, the boy's mother was with her husband when Sakho stole their car from in front of their home on Mac Donough Place shortly after 12 p.m.
The boy was in the backseat of the car, which police say was recovered about three miles away near Tillotson and Wright avenues.
Sakho faces a slew of charges which include robbery, grand larceny, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and abandonment of a child.
