A man accused of slashing someone Friday night in East Flatbush was shot after he charged at officers, according to police.
Officers say they were responding to a 911 call around 11:40 a.m. at 21 Duryea Pl. Upon arrival, they noticed a suspect who had slashed a man in the arm.
The man fled and police pursued him for several blocks. When they arrived at East 21st Street and Beverly Road, he began to charge at police.
The officers fired multiple rounds in self-defense, according to police. The suspect was struck twice.
Police recovered a knife and an additional cutting instrument. Authorities say the 29-year-old is a convicted felon with four prior arrests. One of those arrests was in January when he was accused of slashing two people with scissors.
His victim was hospitalized and is expected to be OK.
