The NYPD says the body of a missing woman from the Bronx was found Thursday morning in Yonkers.
It says upon further investigation, the female was found unconscious and unresponsive in the vicinity of the Saw Mill River Parkway. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the female deceased.
Police have not released that woman's name but say she lived at 2200 Morris Ave., the same address of Pamela Alcantara, 26, who was reported missing on Sunday.
Alcantara's family told News 12 Westchester's sister station, News 12 the Bronx, that Alcantara's body was found in Yonkers.
"She was only 26 years old. She still had her whole life ahead of her. It's like a cold water pouring towards you right now," her family said.
Multiple NYPD units could be seen along the Saw Mill on Thursday, including the medical examiner.
An official cause of death has not been released.
The NYPD says no arrests have been made at this time.
Those who live nearby says it's heartbreaking to hear what happened. "I always take the Saw Mill and it's very unfortunate to find out that a dead body was found," says Elizabeth Chevere, a resident.
