An 8-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Crown Heights, the NYPD says.
According to police, a 69-year-old driver of a Honda Pilot collided with the boy who was crossing the intersection of Albany Avenue and Eastern Parkway.
The child was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County where he was pronounced dead.
News 12 spoke with Shaznet Pearson, who says she heard the crash and sprung into action.
"I aked somebody to go get a towel and applied pressure to where the blood was coming from. So I tried to keep everybody as calm as possible, asking them, not to crowd around the child, because he was still conscious and I was asking him to stay with me. The vision is still in my head it was a traumatic scene," Pearson said.
Adel Gado said hearing the age of the child hits home.
"It scares me because I have grandkids and we walk around here too," Gado said.
Police say the driver remained on the scene. No arrests had been made as of Saturday night.
