A 31-year-old man is dead after police said he was stabbed multiple times in the torso in Fordham early Sunday evening.
It happened just before 6p.m. near the corner of East Fordham Road and Webster Avenue, located across from Fordham University.
Police said the victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
One witness named Ness, who asked not to give her last name, told News 12 that she watched the situation escalate and move from the middle of the block to the street corner.
She said the victim was trying to protect himself when he fell near the bus stop, got up and kept walking toward the fruit stand, then fell again and got stabbed.
“I heard the commotion of them arguing and saying, ‘Leave me alone,’ Ness recounted.“The guy with the knife said, ‘leave me alone,’ and the other guy just kept trying to see what was in his bag. So that’s why I assume that he must’ve been stealing something. [The victim] kept going that way [toward the fruit stand], so when he fell back, that’s when he fell on the floor and he got stabbed.”
Ness said the attacker used a big kitchen and then ran off.
Anyone with information is urged to call police.
