New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit against 1StopBedrooms, a Brooklyn-based online furniture retailer, accusing it of defrauding customers.
The lawsuit claims the company charged exorbitant cancellation fees, failed to deliver items in the timeline promised and mishandled refunds.
The Attorney General’s Office says it received hundreds of complaints - and there are over 2,300 complaints with the Better Business Bureau - in the last three years.
1StopBedrooms denies the allegations, calling them “baseless” and says they are old claims investigated in 2019. The company says it is committed to customer service and looks forward to defending its reputation.
James is seeking restitution for consumers, civil penalties, and an end to the company’s alleged deceptive practices. She urges anyone who believe they have been defrauded to make a complaint to her office.
