The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending dozens of bridges to be evaluated for risk of collapse, including the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
It's one of 11 bridges in New York that will be recommended to undergo a safety assessment.
The George Washington Bridge will also get an assessment.
The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge is labeled as critical in the list. It's also one of 68 bridges across the country deemed essential.
The NTSB noted that its recommendation does not suggest that the bridges are certain to collapse, but rather the bridges are above the American Association of State Highway and Transportation officials' acceptable level of risk.
