The Norwalk Police Department wants to put smiles on the faces of young children this holiday season.
The department on Friday kicked off its annual Stuff-a-Cruiser event at Walmart. Officers are accepting gift donations at the store on Saturday, as well as next weekend.
"Officer Ceasar Ramirez, probably about 28 years ago, started an annual Christmas party for kids in lower social economic areas from South Norwalk who really didn't have an opportunity to enjoy the holidays,” said Chief James Walsh. “What we normally do is we collect toys from the community, and we have Santa Claus on Dec. 14 - we hold a luncheon where we provide lunch and give presents out and Santa Claus comes and provides entertainment and kids have a great time."
Those who wish to donate but can’t make it to the Walmart can order a toy online and have it shipped to the Norwalk Police Department – or visit the police department in person.
