Townships all around New Jersey are preparing for the weekend snowstorm.
Fairfield Township is one of those towns that already has its 19 plows ready to roll Sunday morning.
Emergency Management in Fairfield says its supply of rock salt is high.
Before the snow falls, officials are pushing out a few tips and reminders for neighbors to know before the snow. To start, they say street parking will be off limits starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday until Monday at 7 p.m.
Garbage pickup is being moved to Tuesday rather than Monday. When possible, it’s asked that residents keep snow on their property rather than moving it on roads. Finally, they’re asking that people clear snow from nearby fire hydrants.
Officials also say that this storm could be more difficult for staffers to handle.
“Anytime there’s a snowstorm where you’re talking about 36 hours of precipitation, it just creates issues with keeping the staff rested and the shift work going,” says R.J. Casendino, with the Fairfield Police Department.
Extra DPW and police officers will be brought in to help out on Sunday morning.
