New Jersey Transit’s Raritan Valley Line will operate on a modified schedule on Wednesday following a Conrail train derailment Tuesday morning in Union Township.
This comes after 20 cars went off the tracks. Now cleanup and repairs are underway.
The derailment occurred at 6:45 a.m., about a quarter mile from the Union Train Station. A double-decker container car crashed through a nearby fence, and other containers tipped over. The ordeal caused issues for commuters all day.
        No injuries were reported.
Substitute bus service will also operate from Cranford to Newark, making stops at Roselle Park and Union Station. There is no timeline for when repairs will be completed.
