Commuters are getting back on track as NJ Transit train service resumes following its first strike in over 40 years.
The strike started on Friday and ended Sunday evening, lasting about three days.
NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen came to a tentative agreement on Sunday. The details of that deal reached are still not public.
NJ Transit President & CEO Kris Kolluri implied during a press conference that there will be no immediate fare hikes and no corporate tax increase.
"The riders should be confident that the budget that we have put in place for this year will have no impact," said Kolluri. "This challenge is over, we're ready to pivot onto the Beyonce concert this week, FIFA and all the other stuff. Back to regular programing," said Kolluri.
A 3% fare hike is already set for July and was negotiated prior to the strike.
The railroad needed Monday to inspect the trains and infrastructure, so their contingency plan was used by adding four Park & Ride locations.
