New Jerseyans gathered at Rutgers University Thursday evening for an America 250 celebration honoring the nation's upcoming 250th birthday, with Garden State native Nick Jonas serving as the night's headlining act.
Fans of all ages packed SHI Stadium, many eager to catch a glimpse of the singer.
However, with temperatures climbing throughout the day, attendees also had to contend with the heat.

Event organizers posted reminders throughout the stadium encouraging guests to stay hydrated and take breaks in shaded areas.
The free concert featured a lineup of performers organized by Revolution NJ, a group dedicated to promoting New Jersey's role in American history ahead of the nation's 250th birthday celebration.
