Chappy, New Haven’s beloved seal, is under treatment at Mystic Aquarium for pneumonia and gastrointestinal issues, the facility announced in a Facebook post.

The young pup’s immune system is showing signs of weakness, making him more prone to infections, staff said.

“Like human babies, young seal pups are more susceptible to infections as their immune system has not reached its full strength,” the aquarium noted. “Our rescue team is currently providing world-class care to him, and we will continue to provide updates.”

The team asked the public to send “good vibes” for Chappy’s recovery.
