There's another new grocery store opening up today in our area. Big Y opens at 7 a.m. on Post Road East in Westport this morning.

The family-owned supermarket business started in Massachusetts almost 90 years ago and now has more than 90 stores in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Today is the soft opening for the store - with the grand opening celebration two weeks away.

Westport Big Y members will be entered in a grand opening giveaway.

You can win $200, $100 or even $50 in free groceries.

Big Y says on its website it offers brand products and all the high quality foods your family needs and wants, without the big ticket price.

Amazon Fresh was supposed to go here but that fell through. Big Y supermarkets closest to Westport are in Stratford, Monroe and Shelton.
