Nearly 1,000 employees at a hospital in Bayonne could lose their jobs after their employer warned of possible layoffs, according to state labor officials.
Hudson Regional Health sent Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notices to nearly 1,000 workers at Bayonne University Hospital last week, the New Jersey Department of Labor said.
The company recently closed Heights Hospital in Jersey City after projecting a $30 million loss this year. Hudson Regional Health operates both hospitals.
If layoffs occur in Bayonne, they would take effect by June 29.
There has been no word on which positions would be affected.
