The Nassau Community College Federation of Teachers has filed a lawsuit against the college and county.

The lawsuit challenges the recent decision to eliminate 15 academic departments.

The teacher’s federation says if the plan is enacted, it would deny students the academic program they are entitled to.

The case is set to head to court next month.

A representative from the college sent a statement calling it a “frivolous lawsuit that has no merit.”

News 12 has reached out to the county and has not heard back.
