        Nassau police: Man fatally shot in Hempstead

        Police say they found the man unresponsive just after noon. They say he was shot multiple times.

        A man was fatally shot Saturday in Hempstead near the corner of Peninsula Boulevard and West Graham Avenue. Police say they found the man unresponsive just after noon. They say he was shot multiple times. News 12 was told he was taken to the hospital where he later died. Hempstead police had sections of West Graham Avenue and nearby West Marshall Street closed for hours during the homicide investigation. Police have not said if they have made any arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Several schools are not far from where police say the shooting happened, including Hempstead High School and Molloy University.
