Private Picassos, an art studio in Clinton Hill, has been temporarily closed for repairs after flooding on Thursday.
Owner Valeen Baht says it happened during an art class. Students had to be rushed to safety.
“I knew that my son was OK, and I was trying to save my other baby, which is this business. Honestly, the next couple of nights I closed my eyes...all we could see was the water and just kept picturing that and it’s really hard," said Baht.
She says they're raising money for repairs and are hoping to open back up next week. She says this is a busy period for the business, and being closed for a short time has an impact.
“To be closed even for two weekends and like a week and a half is a huge blow to us. We've already lost birthday parties, the lost revenue of the drop-ins," said Baht.
Baht says this isn't the first time flooding has happened. She wants to see steps taken to prevent it in the future.
“We need action. The drain at the end of our block, I went out at 2:00 before the rain was bad to make sure it wasn't clogged with leaves. This was when the rain was just a teeny bit. It was already overflowed," said Baht.
News 12 reached out to local stakeholders to see if anything is being done to tackle the issue, but hasn't yet heard back.
