A Bridgeton man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in June has surrendered to police.
Rynell L. Lawrence turned himself in to the Bridgeton Police Department early Monday morning after being on the run for more than two months.
According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, Lawrence is facing murder and weapons charges stemming from a fatal shooting on June 24. At 8:08 p.m. on that date, officers responded to the Burlington Manor apartment complex for a report of gunshots and a victim. When police arrived, they found Quashawn T. White, 33, of Newark, with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died as a result of the injuries.
Following an investigation, Lawrence was charged with first-degree murder. He was considered an armed and dangerous fugitive until turning himself in this week.
The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said Lawrence is in custody and the state will move for pretrial detention.
