        A multivehicle crash on Route 9 south is causing road closures and massive delays in Middlesex County, and police say the traffic could continue for several hours.
        According to Sayreville police, the crash happened at approximately 5:45 a.m. when a construction trailer broke loose from a truck, resulting in a collision with at least five other vehicles. Police say there were injuries reporter, but they will not be releasing information about the extent of the injuries or the victims as the investigation is ongoing.
        "Our Traffic Safety Unit and multiple patrol officers on on scene, investigating the crash, and assisting with traffic control. We expect the roadway to be closed for several hours. The location of this crash will have a major impact on traffic in the area," police said in a statement.
        Police are urging drivers to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.
