A Mount Vernon man was arrested for allegedly striking an NYPD officer with his moped in Wakefield, according to the NYPD.

Mouhamet Kane, 24, was taken into custody on Thursday evening, just minutes after the crash at East 228th Street and White Plains Road.

Police say Kane blew through a red light and hit the officer who was crossing the street to respond to a fight.

The NYPD says the officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Kane faces a reckless endangerment charge.
