A Morris Heights tenant says that despite her many attempts to remove rats from her home, they’re still taking over.
“This is where they live,” said Taleetha Steplight. “I feel like I live in their house. I feel like I’m disturbing them at this point.”
News 12 originally spoke with Steplight in March 2023 about the rat infestation that led to the death of her pet. She says that things have only gotten worse since then.
The apartment, located on Harrison Avenue, has freshly glazed hardwood floors, a renovated kitchen – and rat droppings over all of the new renovations.
Bronx Pro Group, the management company of the building, released the following statement:
“Bronx Pro Group is aware of and responding to complaints recently made at 1898 Harrison Avenue, 7B. In response, we have ordered extermination for the effected apartment as well as the broader building. We have and will continue to communicate and work diligently with the residents of 1898 Harrison until we reach the desired results."
Steplight says that she wants to leave her current home but is facing challenges to get out.
