If you see a large emergency response at Tweed New Haven Airport this week, officials say there is no cause for concern.

The airport will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on Tuesday designed to test how first responders would handle an aircraft emergency.

The drill will include an Avelo Airlines aircraft, volunteers acting as passengers and a large response from fire, police, EMS and other emergency agencies.

Airport officials say the exercise is intended to evaluate communication, coordination and emergency response procedures.

Federal regulations require airports to conduct full-scale emergency exercises every three years to test preparedness plans and identify any areas for improvement.
