The Metropolitan Detention Center has suspended visitation until further notice.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons posted the announcement on their website.
The bureau tells News 12 the move is for safety and security reasons.
However, the bureau would not discuss specific security practices or internal procedures. MDC was placed on modified operations on Saturday, Feb. 22.
News 12 has been told inmates still have daily access to three meals a day, water, showers and communication with their loved ones.
