The mayor of Yonkers wants the state to immediately grant a full casino license to the city.
Mayor Mike Spano stated that MGM Empire City Casino is "shovel ready."
This comes after two major competitors in Manhattan and Long Island withdrew their bids.
The plan would bring in nearly $40 million every year, according to Spano. It would also create more than 2,000 jobs in Yonkers alone, he said.
Some residents are concerned a new casino would cause safety and traffic problems.
